About Willowmere Farm

Willowmere Farm prides itself in a small herd of colorful huacaya alpacas. I had envisioned my own herd since 1984 when Ted and Elaine first introduced me to their animals. Finally after the world tragedy of 9/11 I felt it was time to see my dream come true. I purchased my first animals in May of 2002 and my dream became my reality.

Our first cria was born that September. Ariel, a beautiful rose grey female, matured and went on to win the color championship at the Alpaca Western Extravaganza (AWE) in the spring of 2004 at 20 months of age. With the combination of 'Sweet Michela' and 'Aussie Rockford', the dam and sire of this mating, we have repeated this breeding over the last three years. Some combinations just 'click' genetically and this one has produced two additional outstanding rose grey offspring and the fourth will be coming in September 2005. The show career of these animals has just started so watch for them in the upcoming shows.

As we move forward with our breeding program we have chosen a combination of Peruvian, Chilean and Bolivian bloodlines in our foundation animals. With the genetics of 'Pperuvian Guellermo', 'Peruvian Felix', 'Pperuvian Pluro' and the silver and rose grey genetics of the sires and dams; 'HT Maestro', 'Aussie Rockford', 'PLA's Moonlight Sonata' and 'Fordenava La Gris' we have a solid foundation of color.

Currently with seven female alpacas I plan on building the core herd to ten or twelve production hembras so I can easily work them myself and provide quality service to clients through the years.
